Materials: The leather used in this collection are treated with 100% vegetable materials. This means that different natural products are used in its tanning process instead of using chemicals that are harmful to the environment. These natural products are usually branches of trees and plants, such as chestnut and tara, sticks, roots and nuts, which are powdered and used to tan leather. The anilines used to color your bag, like the waxes that create the two-tone effect, are of plant origin. For this reason, any irregularity that is noticed in the skin is the effect of the natural process. As a suggestion, do not expose your bag to the sun for a long time as some oxidation could be noticed in the color, as happens with fruit.

STORY

From the Nahuatl word for Jaguar, the Ocelotl, is an animal similar to a domestic cat, with fur that resembles a jaguar, but with smaller dimensions. The ocelot can be found throughout most of America, from southern United States to Norhern Argentina. In Mexico, it lives practically in the entire territory, except for the central region and the Baja California peninsula.

Legend tells that, when the Gods created animals, they gave the ocelot a beautiful clear coat, the color of the sun and soft as cotton. Being a very quiet creature, it stayed away from other animals and spent the nightsgazing at the sky. The ocelot deeply admired Meztli, the moon, and one could even say that it was in love with her. One day, a new star bearing a long fiery tail appeared in the sky. The animal felt threatened by it, but Citlalpol, the morning star, advised him not to do anything, as the star was just passing through and would soon be on its way. The ocelot did not follow this advice and began shouting at the star, "Be gone! In these heavens there is only room for one queen and that is my beloved Meztli!" The star, which was a comet, began hurling flaming stones and fire from its tail. The ocelot was not able to flee in time, and many fiery stones hit and charred its fur. Since then, ocelots no longer have their beautiful golden coat, but they are covered in dark spots that always remind us that we should respectfully welcome all those who pass through our lands.

Care: Carlota pieces are made with high-quality materials, and therefore should be treated with care, and protected against the elements. Due to the delicate nature of the materials, daily use can cause scratches and scuff marks on the surface, so we recommend you treat it with care. The leather is submitted to an important natural dye process, and the suede lining is pigmented with natural anilines, so we recommend that you be careful with any light-colored items that may come into contact with it.

If soiled, carefully clean the surface area using water and soft detergents. To keep your leather products in optimum condition, clean with a soft dry cloth, or, if necessary have them professionally cleaned.
